Michael Joesting, D.D.S.
Dr. Michael Joesting grew up outside of Washington D.C. and moved to the Bay Area to complete an advanced training in general dentistry with the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. He earned his B.S. in Neurophysiology at University of Maryland and received his D.D.S. from the University of Maryland Dental School. While in dental school, Dr. Michael performed voluntary emergency dental treatment for underserved populations at the dental school’s satellite clinic in rural Maryland. He also received advanced clinical training in pediatrics while in school. Before graduating he also went overseas to treat children in Vietnam. The Operation Smile mission to Vietnam involved going to elementary schools in rural areas of the An Giang province and helping children out of dental pain by performing extractions and fillings, and providing dental education.
Dr. Michael chose to go into dentistry because it allowed him to be in a physically active field of health care that also allows strong, long-lasting relationships to be built with a wide variety of people. As a dentist, he enjoys treating children and those with developmental disabilities. He hopes he can allow children and anxious adults to become comfortable coming to the dentist by alleviating their anxiety and fear of the unknown that comes from seeing the dentist. His advanced training allowed Dr. Michael to gain valuable experience in complex oral surgery procedures, treating advanced and severe gum and periodontal disease, placing implants, and use of lasers to allow more options for patients and to improve healing.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry. He also taught part time at the University of Pacific Dental School. In his spare time Dr. Michael enjoys seeing movies, going to a wide variety of music festivals and concerts, going out dancing, and continues to explore everything California has to offer. He also runs marathons and half marathons, and on occasion participates in competitive eating competitions.
Rebekah Hanks, RDA/Front Desk
Hello everyone! My name is Rebekah, I have been working for Dr. Ana since she started her new practice here in San Rafael. I was born in Redding, Ca but moved to Marin County in 2009 to be closer to the big city and my older brothers. I received my dental assisting training from Shasta Trinity R.O.P in 2007 and have been working in the dental field since then. I have always enjoyed being surrounded by others but now I get to help them show off a beautiful smile as well!
In my free time I love being outdoors whether it is running, hiking/biking or best of all taking pictures. I am the baby of three brothers and completely spoiled by them.
You may hear my voice on the phone or see me while I am assisting Dr. Ana, but wherever it is, I will always try my best to make sure our patients have the best experiance they can at our family dental office. Hope to see or speak to you soon!
